It’s becoming more clear everyday how one becomes”carried away with every wind of doctrine, tossed to and fro”—-because of not being rooted and grounded in the truth.
Jesus said He is the Truth, the Way and the Life–no one comes to the Father except thru Jesus. That’s what it’s all about—coming to the Father. It’s not a “way” to become rich, or a “way” to be successful, a “way” to “Your Best Life Now.” Jesus is THE Way—to where??—back to the Father!
God the Father is the source of all that is good, pure, holy, righteous, beautiful, majestic, sovereign and perfect. God is the only source of joy. Hell is the absence of all that is good. What good is finding our best here, which will be burned with fire at the end? As Ecclesiastes states—all that is here is vanity —like vanishing bubbles compared to what we have to look forward to in heaven with our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.
Our focus shouldn’t be on earthly things, but heavenly things. Ironically, one of Joel Olsteen’s favorite sayings is that “we can be so heavenly minded that we are no earthly good.” Where is this in God’s Word? It’s not.
In fact, Colossians 3: 2 says the opposite, “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”
We need to ask ourselves, what are the effects of listening to such worldliness? Then, how does it play out in practice? Unfortunately, I’ve learned the hard way how it plays out —going from cult to cult “always learning, but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” It leads to departing from THE faith, THE way-Jesus Christ. I’d rather focus on Jesus, THE truth, any day.
Just seeing how this all works.
Yay! for you and praise God! I am glad to see you using your experience for the glory of the Most High! I know what you endured at the center was horrendous but He brought you through it and I just bet ~ 🙂 you know more about Him and His precious word that you did before!
Welcome to blogging! God bless you my brave friend!

Thanks Mkayla,
You’ve been a great inspiration to all of us who have taken the leap of faith and gone out on a limb where the true fruit is.
I just kept remembering Gods word and especially Eph. 5: 11 “to have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather to expose them.”
Thanks M’kayla, may the Lord bless your ministry, I have a hunger for the TRUTH !!
Hey “fonze,”
Thanks for the encouragement. It’s refreshing to read of such zeal for God. Jesus said that those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, shall be filled. God Bless
God bless you, and thank you for your blog! I have several friends who travel to Bethel (2 hours away) each week to attend church there. I pray God will teach me how I can be salt to them, showing them that the way to the Father is through Jesus Christ and His Word alone…
Hey Cindi,
I’ve always heard the old saying that you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink—–but we can put salt in their oats to make them thirsty enough to drink! ha ha
Being reconciled to the Father—-that’s what it’s all about. God bless in witnessing truth to your friends.
I believe that a truly heavenly minded person would turn the world upside down. Jesus didn’t die to just produce ‘limbo’ christians who drift through life. The Lord’s prayers says: Thy will be done on EARTH.
This doesn’t mean that we must be rich, or famous, or anything. it just means that the God life is too bright not to make an impact on earth, and in the way we do things. We are to be useful on earth. All fruit bearing is on EARTH, we occupy till Jesus comes ON EARTH, so, Joel Osteen is wrong only because he called those who are useless on earth ‘too heavenly minded’
True, we do produce fruits while on earth, showing the kind of tree we really are and we store up treasures in heaven—–all for His glory.
